AutoPatch
News
11/15/2001 Latest Patch changed search strings. Dual Log has been found and verified. Windowed Mode has not been found (and may require a new autopatch.exe) as the patched bytes have changed or the feature was removed. You can get dual log working with the latest autopatch.reg. Do not select windowed mode at this time when patching as it will report it failed to patch it.
10/9/2001 Autopatch continues to work as is (like its suppose to!). Successfully verified both dual log and windowed mode patch.
9/12/2001 Today is patch day, which means a new client.exe. I've verified the existing search strings continue to work for this patch. No update needed, just run the tool against the new client.exe. On a side note, if you are using and appreciating my tool, I'm now going to ask for a donation. Please if you are able to, go to the nearest blood bank and either volunteer or give blood. Thanks, James
8/23/2001 New client.exe came out last night. No need to update search strings as AutoPatch still works. Verified both dual log and windowed mode.
8/15/2001 Just a reminder that if you already have Autopatch, you only need to download the autopatch.reg (very small). I'm seeing a large amounts of zip downloads, and just wanted to remind people that it isnt necessary (whole point of autopatch is to eliminate downloading a big client.exe) unless you havent gotten autopatch yet.
8/14/2001 New reg file for both Dual Log and Windowed Mode is ready. You can download autopatch.reg and run it to modify the search strings and offsets for the August Patch. This has been verified for both dual log and windowed mode.
6/16/2001 New reg file for both Dual Log and windowed mode is ready. Sorry for the delay. You can download autopatch.reg and run it to modify the search strings and offsets. This has been verified for both dual log and windowed mode.
6/15/2001 Client.exe has changed again. No update on windowed mode other then to say Wembly is hard at work cracking it. You can get updated information from http://ac.mox.net/wembly/. As for dual log, it has reverted to the orignial search string, so just click Patch properties, and restore orginal values. I'll update windowed mode as soon as I have more information.
6/14/2001 New Patch out and search strings are broken. I've found dual log and am working on windowed mode. I will post new search strings and instructions for changing them once I've gotten windowed mode. Please stay tuned.
Update: Dual log patch verified. Update AutoPatch by downloading dualpatch.reg, to update the registry with a new search string. Windowed Mode is still not working. I'll post updated information once I have more information.5/18/2001 Version 1.2.4 was just release to fix a few issues reported by users. The following is a list of changes:
| Changed the layout a bit to support two new UI features | |
| Added a Check box to copy dat files if copy to 2nd directory is checked for dual log | |
| Added a status bar next to patch button | |
| Added a sleep routine to support UI changes during execution | |
| Fixed two UI bugs with Path button | |
| Added checking for previously applied patches (doesn't report error) | |
| Changed Mouse pointer to Hourglass during file copies |
If you have a previous version installed, then you just need to download the
autopatch.exe from the download section and replace the previous version with
it.
About AutoPatch
AutoPatch is a tool used to patch the Asheron's Call client.exe file to allow Windowed and/or Dual log mode.

You can find out more about Dual log from either the original site http://todd.acdev.org/ or from Grayson's updated site http://www.graysonac.com/duallog.html which provides much more detail instructions on setting up Dual Log.
You can find out more about Windowed Mode from http://ac.mox.net/wembly/
This tool does not automate setting up Dual Log or Windowed Mode, all it does is save you from downloading a client.exe from a third party after every patch.
What does AutoPatch Do?
AutoPatch has built in binary search strings that are kept in the registry. When AutoPatch runs, it searches client.exe for a matching pattern, then replaces only the bytes that are needed if they match the search. The search strings can be modified by the user so that if they change in the future you don't need to download a new version of the tool. The whole point of the tool is to limit your exposer to viruses and trojan horses that maybe inserted into executables such as distributed client.exe files as well as decreasing the time it takes to get Windowed and/or Dual Log working again after a patch.
While this tool is made for the novice user, it is only to be used at your own risk. It is possible to corrupt your client.exe with incorrect settings.
